THE 5-DAY PERSONAL TV COMEDY SERIES PREMISE CREATION CHALLENGE
Does coming up with your original idea stand between you and your next great pilot script? You have come to the right place. This 5-Day challenge is an original sequence of thirty minute exercises, one per day, designed to lead you to at least one personal, marketable and funny premise for a comedy TV series that is authentic to you by the Friday.
Here's how it works...
The next challenge runs from August 21 to 25, with our final presentation Zoom call at 2pm EST on Saturday, August 26th.
You will receive a video with instructions and worksheets every day in our SamCart Courses app for the Challenge. You can register for the TV Challenge, the Feature Film Challenge (which has a different set of exercises except one, due to the differing story and character needs film has) or both - they are running concurrently and each involve 30 minutes to one hour a day of work.
At the final Presentation Zoom, both the Film & TV Challengers will present their premise(s) to a panel of judges and idea test with us directly for feedback for up to five minutes each, with a goal for each participating of finding at least one premise that is personal to them, marketable, and one that they are excited to start writing.
The winner of the TV Challenge will receive a free spot in my From Schtick to Script TV Comedy Series Pilot Writing Program (a $497 US value) and the winner of the Feature Film Challenge will receive a free spot in my Make 'Em Laugh for 90 Minutes comdedy feature film program (a $497 US value).
New this year: both winners will ALSO receive a free spot in my new Punch It Up program (a training program on how to punch up film & TV screenplays to extract the maximum funny, a $297US value), and if we declare a runner-up in either or both categories, they will also receive a free spot in Punch It Up. Plus, the winners will get social media glory.
I created this Challenge in mid-2020 and have run these Challenges a few times a year and can attest that some truly phenomenal scripts have resulted, including multiple scripts that have gone into development with production companies from new writers, and not even necessarily those that won! The market is craving personal, original voices and that is what the design of the exercises I have created is all about.

The 5 day challenge was a refreshing experience for me, everyday there was a little task which took just the right amount of time from my day and what i liked was that it really allowed me to go inwards and explore things I had overlooked before. It allowed me to connect with myself as a writer. This is what I love about the way Daniela teaches writing. She helps you get to a place which is raw and feels very real and writing from there feels right. A BIT ABOUT DANIELA...
Daniela Saioni is a multi-award-winning comedy screenwriter whose stand-up has been described as "smart and subversive".
Her passion for comedy and filmmaking led her to start training comedians and laypeople alike in the art of comedy screenwriting in 2012. Her fast-track methodology and the success of her students have led her to become an in-demand Story Consultant and blossoming Punch-up Artist. As a Screenwriter, she has won numerous awards and honours, including the 9 laurels above for her last feature film script, Jiyan, based on a story by filmmaker Mazdak Taebi.
