A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY
An annual, internatonal cohort of screenwriters and emerging story editors will come together in this one-of-a-kind training program focused on sharpening your story editing skills and expanding your ability to give effective, actionable notes to your clients while respecting and preserving their unique voice. It is intended for emerging and practicing Story Editors as well as emerging Development, Network and Studio Executives who are required to give constructive notes on an ongoing basis. Producers, Directors, Film and Grants Jurors and Picture Editors have also participated in and benefitted from this program as well. Besides writing technique, I will be discussing the practical realities of the business side of working in this often elusive career path.
The first three sessions on technique are pre-recorded, then we will meet live weekly on Zoom and participants will have access to recordings of the training portion for life, then access to the Story Editing sessions for the two months following our last class.
For the seven Practicum sessions, I will source a variety of feature or TV script to work on and we will collectively practice our Story Editing skills on two new projects every week. By the end of the session, participants will have encountered a variety of genres and writing problems to solve, and built a fluidity and confidence in the process.
I am offering this program for less than it costs to work with me as a Story Editor and passing along skills you will have and use for life.

Daniela (Writers Guild of Canada) was previously an internationally reknown Script Supervisor (Shazam!, A Simple Favor, Suits). whose former stand-up has been described as “smart and subversive” and was featured on CBC Radio One,
A graduate of York University's Film Production program and Humber Comedy Screenwriting, she went on to create From Schtick to Script, an original sitcom writing program, as well as Make ‘Em Laugh for 90 Minutes, a feature screenwriting program, which have allowed her to shepherd the creation of over 100 original scripts from six countries.
She recently served as Script Consultant on Rahela Jagric’s magic realism feature The Space Among Us (Slovenia) which is currently touring film festivals, and is Script Consultant on three features on Telefilm's Racialized Producers development slate.
In 2022, she was the Story Editing and Punch-up Instructor at the Pacific Screenwriting Program’s Scripted Series Lab, and served as live Story Editor at Female Eye and was a Story Editor Mentor for Reelworld E20.
Daniela has won numerous international awards for her own unproduced screenplays. She and Annie Bradley won Best Reserve Screenplay at the 2014 FEFF for their feature script The WBI, which was also named Harold Greenberg CFF's Top Ten in 2016.
Her most recent script Jiyan, based on a story by Mazdak Taebi, won the Grand Prize at WE Screenplay Diverse Voices 2021, and nine laurels in total. In 2019, she was the first writer in the history of the Toronto Female Eye Film Festival to take home two awards: Best Screenplay and Best Fresh Voice.
